March Earnings Update

March was poop and I only earned $864. But I knew it would be a crappy month given that I really only did a few days worth of good work. I’m lookng forward now and have had a few hugely productive days since arriving in Nicaragua and I expect things to get better from here on in.

Earnings Breakdown:

  • Google Adsense – $205 – Adsense took a huge blow when my London site was banned. I’m happy to have the site back and have learned a lesson about diversifying away from just Adsense but also about not relying on a single site to bring in most of my Adsense income.
  • Affiliate Sales – $550 – Same as always, the big earner is coming through but this month, my other affiliate networks have sucked. I earned $37 with Clixgalore this month, earned zero with them last month and the month before earned $155. It’s a hard one to predict.
  • Linkworth – $25 – Same old, same old.
  • Private Link Sales – $30 – Just the usual three $10 monthly subscribers. I had a couple cancellations and nobody enquired this month about links. This category is a hard one to predict… sometimes I get hundreds in a couple of days out of the blue and sometimes nothing, not even renewals.
  • Writing – $54 – I had a couple articles published this month which is good for earning an extra little bit. I just arranged to write on another blog for only $8 per 500 words but th emoney is sort of a small thing compared with inbound links and possible exposure. I am liking this writing for other blogs thing… it forces me to have a bit of a schedule which I think I need from time to time.

I’m pretty comfortable where I am in Leon. The hostel isn’t the ideal work atmosphere and the internet is very patchy but I’ve found a great little corner to work in and am even being productive offline.I just got an email from the guy that runs the hostel about doing some research for them in exchange for a week of accommodation. They’re looking at starting both a tour company and an organic farm and have  atree planting project on the verge of starting as well and have lots of things for me to look up. It’s the sort of work I really like so I’m looking forward to getting started and it’s a bonus that it matches up with my ultra-budget month of April. I’m hoping to eventually work on their farm so it look slike I’m on the right track for that, depending on when they decide to get started.

I expect my London Olympics site to be online in a week or so which won’t be an immediate earner but the sooner I get it out there, the better. I also have an idea for some small sites and hope to crank them out within a couple of weeks. April might not see much of an improvement but I’m hoping the work I do now will pay off as soon as possible.
